Dr. LaWanna Starks attended The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1984. Dr. Starks practiced as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, first at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, then at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Starks returned to school seeking her Medical Degree from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, and transferred to the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and received her Medical Degree in 1997. In 2000, she completed Pediatric Residency Training at the University of Minnesota with experiences at St. Paul Children’s Hospital, Minneapolis Children’s Hospital, and Hennepin County Trauma Center. Dr. Starks most recently owned an independent pediatric practice in Key West, Florida, before moving to Charlotte, NC. She is happy to be in Charlotte, closer to family and friends.
Dr. Starks is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Starks is the proud mother of two adult sons.
